Michael J. Kannengieser is a retired New York City police officer and novelist based on Long Island, New York, where he lives with his wife and two children. He served as the Managing Editor for fiction at The View from Here, a U.K.-based literary magazine, and has published widely in both fiction and editorial capacities. His body of work includes The Daddy Rock and Burning Blue (Decent Hill Publishers), as well as The Heart of Velletri (Dreaming Big Publications, 2019), a historical novel inspired by his father's experience as a soldier during World War II. In 2023, he released The Art of God, a novel that explores grief, faith, and the transformative power of art. His latest science fiction novel, The Last Two People, was published in April 2025 and examines human connection and survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Michael continues to write across genres, blending personal experience with philosophical inquiry, spiritual themes, and speculative storytelling. He shares his work on his longtime blog, Mr. Grudge, publishes essays and stories on Substack, and connects with fellow writers on Writeseen (@michael_343).
